The late-breaking deadline is intended to recognize novel, critically important research developments that become available for presentation after the regular abstract submission deadline. The selection process is highly competitive; only a small number of submissions are accepted for a paper or platform presentation in a Late-Breaking Abstract session. All Late-Breaking Abstracts are published onsite in the International Congress programme and on the MSMilan2023 congress website.
Generally, to be considered for a late-breaking abstract, a study must report data that became available for public dissemination after the regular abstract submission deadline, and the study and results should be innovative (not simply an extension of previously published work). The studies must also be of high impact. Themes A-I are best suited to Late-Breaking Abstracts; however, the scientific quality of the studies and their impact will be the key determinants. The submitting author must agree to abide by the code of conduct.
The presentation format for a late-breaking abstract is either an oral presentation or a poster. If an abstract is selected for an oral presentation, it will be a 12-minute talk with 3 minutes for questions. The presenting author is responsible for completing all required financial disclosures and registration by Tuesday, June 17. If the abstract is chosen for a poster presentation, the presenting author must bring their printed poster to the conference, set it up and take down. Travel/hotel accommodations and any additional fees are the responsibility of the presenting author. The content of the poster should match the abstract, and authors are encouraged to include an appendix.
